Press Release Russian Health Care Week 2021
The year 2021 has been declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin as the Year of Science and Technology. The pandemic challenges faced by mankind have highlighted the enormous importance of this field and contributed to making science a national priority for this country.
The results of the Year of Science and Technology in the field of medicine will be summarized at Russian Health Care Week 2021, which will be held on 6–10 December 2021 at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, Moscow, Russia. This largest Russian project devoted medicine and health protection was included in the plan of the main events of the Year of Science and Technology in Russia in 2021 (Decree of the Russian Government of 13 March 2021 No.605-r) and is one of the main federal events of the Year in medicine.

The main purpose of Russian Health Care Week and its international exhibitions Zdravookhraneniye, Healthy Lifestyle and MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics. Health and Spa Resorts is to promote the implementation of such national projects as Health Care, Demography, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, and the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services.
The support from the Russian government, legislative, federal and regional executive authorities in health care, manufacturing industries and tourism confirm the Week’s high status in Russia.
More than 1,000 companies from all federal districts of Russia and 40 countries took part in Health Care Week 2019 on a total area of 50,000 sq m. Armenia, China, Czechia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Malaysia, South Korea, and Spain arranged large-scale national pavilions. The conference programme included more than 100 major events. More than 27,000 industry professionals attended the Week.
Russian Health Care Week 2020 was held online for the first time. Around 650 speakers, including leading experts from China, Germany, Kazakhstan, Spain, the USA and Ukraine, took part in the events of the events that brought together around 16,000 professionals from all over the world.
In the Year of Science and Technology, a special attention is given to support for research, mentoring and employment of young medical scientists and specialists. The Week’s events will cover trends in the development of global and Russian health care and medicine, with one of the main topics being the fight against COVID-19.

National pavilions are arranged by Czechia, Germany, Hungary, South Korea, and Spain.

PharmMedProm, which is annually organised under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, will be part Russian Health Care Week 2021.
The group stand will showcase products from Russian companies producing pharmaceuticals, medical devices and equipment. Pharmaceuticals will cover a wide range of therapeutic areas: anaesthesiology, chronic and acute pain syndrome, gastroenterology, gynaecology and andrology, cardiology, neurology, infectious diseases, pulmonology, ophthalmology, emergencies, etc.
Visitors will also be able to see medical products and equipment used to combat COVID-19. They include medical masks, modern test systems, air and surface disinfection units, personal protection kits, ventilators and air recirculators.
In addition, the best examples of Russian surgical and diagnostic equipment, implantable medical devices, tomography and X-ray machines and much more will be presented.
PharmMedProm is designed to acquaint professionals and the general public with innovative Russian medical and pharmaceutical products, to demonstrate their capabilities and increase confidence on the part of the medical community and patients.

Russian Health Care week 2021 will open on December 6 with the 13th Russian Assembly of Professionals in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries. Its participants are heads of health authorities in different Russian regions, rectors of higher education institutions, enterprises and institutions involved in the development, production and sale of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and the training of personnel for the pharmaceutical and medical industries.
Days of Medical and Wellness Tourism will be held for the first time to promote the implementation of the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services.
The 3rd National Congress on the Export of Medical Services will be organised by the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Coordinating Centre on Implementing the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services, and the Association of Medical Tourism and Export of Medical Services in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO in Blue Hall of Pavilion No.2. Heads of federal and regional executive bodies in the field of health care, foreign affairs, and heads of major medical centres participating in the implementation of the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services are invited to take part in the event. The main topics of discussion will be medical services and attracting foreign patients to Russian medical institutions.
The Section on Ambulance and Disaster Medicine, organised by the Emergency Medical Center DMZ, will cover the improvement of organisation of medical aid at the pre-hospital stage of patients with severe pathologies, the re-profiling of the emergency department in conditions of mass arrival of victims of emergencies in large cities, advantages, problems and prospects of sanitary aviation, the last changes in the legislation in the field of first aid, organisational basis and tasks of civil defense, etc.
The 3rd Conference on Additive Technologies in Health Care: International and National Experience will be organised by Z-axis to discuss the application of 3D technology for medicine: for the dental market, the replacement of tissue defects, preoperative preparation and pre-design of surgeries, and for orthopaedic footwear.
In order to promote nutrition science in health care and other areas of human activity, the National Nutritionist Alliance jointly with the International Academy of Nutritiology (MAN) organise the International Assembly of Nutritionists ‘NutriMANia’, devoted to healthy lifestyle and healthy eating, as part of MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics. Health and Spa Resorts. The event will be attended by health care representatives, representatives of the nutritionist community and leading opinion leaders. Following the plenary session, a number of agreements will be signed to jointly implement the objectives of the event.
During the Presentation of Wellness Hotels of Azerbaijan, organised by PMD Hospitality in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO, the unique opportunities of health resorts, mineral springs and naphthalene oil will be presented in the Mars Conference Hall (Pavilion No.7, Hall 2).
The MedTravelExpo Presentation Area (Pavilion No.7, Hall 2) will be active on all exhibition days. On 6 December, there will be Day of Bashkiria at MedTravelExpo, organised by the Resorts of Bashkortostan Association in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO, with the participation of directors of Bashkortostan's leading health resorts, creative groups and guests of honour. The event will include the awarding of certificates of merit and gifts for contributions to the development of the Republic of Bashkortostan's health resorts and spa industry.
The 33rd International Forum on Circulation of Medical Products in Russia and the EAEU will open on 6 December. It is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and the Symposium congress company. This forum is in many ways symbolic for the entire market, as it takes place on the eve of the transition of medical product registration to EAEU rules from 1 January 2022. The forum will run over two days, on 6 and 7 December. On the second day, there will be expert seminars on in vitro diagnostics and in vivo testing under the new EAEU rules.

The Russian Conference on E-Commerce in Medicine: Step-by-Step Work with Marketplaces will take place on 6 December from 11.00 to 13.30 within the Healthy Lifestyle exhibition. At the conference, suppliers of medical products, nutritional supplements, sports nutrition and other health products will receive an algorithm for increasing sales with the help of marketplaces from e-commerce market experts and representatives of the marketplaces themselves. The 6th Russian Conference on a Winning Formula for a Private Clinic will take place at Zdravookhraneniye 2021 on 6 December. The first day of Russian Health Care Week will conclude with the award ceremony for the winners in three competitions: Literary Readings by Doctors, Medicine through the Lens and Singing Doctors, named the Medicine as an Art. It is organised by the Moscow City Department of Health Care and the Research Institute of Health Care and Medical Management of the Moscow City Department of Health Care in Blue Hall of Pavilion No.2.
The competitions are held as part of the Moscow Formula of Life festival. The main purpose of the competitions is to reveal and support the creative potential of medical workers of the Moscow health care organisation, as well as students of medical educational institutions over the age of 18.

One of the objectives of the Year of Science and Technology is to attract talented young people to science and technology, so the Interdisciplinary Forum 'The Young Medicine', organised on 7 December by the Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development and EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the relevant federal legislative and executive authorities, unions, associations and universities will be a key event of Russian Health Care Week. The Forum will be held in a hybrid format, which will allow more than 60 regional medical universities of Russia to be involved in its sessions.

"Over the past two years, mankind has felt the value of the medical profession especially keenly. Every day we see the real feats of people who save millions of lives, develop new medicines, and do research.
In the Year of Science and Technology, we have implemented a whole set of measures of the National Project for Science and Universities to develop medical research.
Instrumentation facilities are being upgraded, grants for scientific research are being allocated, youth laboratories are being set up, and medical universities are being included in the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership programme.

The Plenary Meeting on the Post-Pandemic: New Vectors for Health Care Development and Health, will be organised by the Moscow City Department of Health Care and the Research Institute of Health Care and Medical Management in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO in offline format on 8 December. It will be moderated by Elena Aksenova, Director of the Research Institute of Health Care and Medical Management of the Moscow City Department of Health Care.
The meeting’s key topics will be what lessons have national economies and health care systems learned from the new coronavirus infection, what global trends have become more realistic in the post-pandemic environment, what values of the post-pandemic era have emerged, how is global public health changing, what values are emerging in "healthy cities", how quickly can scientific advances change clinical medicine, and how does personalisation in medicine affect the changing face of health care.

The forum’s sessions will include the Session on the Post-Pandemic: Lessons Learnt and Development Plans, the Session on the Healthy City: A New Quality of Life and Health, and the Session on Personalisation in Medicine: Science for Life. On 7 and 8 December in online format there will be held the Section on therapy 'The course of COVID-19 in patients with CHF’, the Section on obstetrics and gynecology ‘Care of pregnant women with COVID-19’, the Section on gastroenterology ‘Relevance of the problem of antibiotic bowel lesions in the sphere of the spread of COVID-19, the Section on urgent surgical trauma and neurosurgical care for children ‘Relevant issues of the organisation of specialised medical care for children with traumatic injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system in the city of Moscow’, and others.
The duration of each section is 60-90 minutes.
The Scientific and Methodological Forum for Health Care Managers will be continued online from 16.00 to 17.30 by the Foresight Session on Transforming Health Care in the Interests of People. The session will be moderated by Elena Aksenova, Director of the Research Institute of Health Care and Medical Management of the Moscow City Department of Health Care
On 7–8 December, the 2nd Global Medical Tourism Summit, which Russia’s largest event for the medical and wellness tourism, will be held within MedTravelExpo. This is the second year that it is organised by the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee, the Congress and Exhibition Bureau of St. Petersburg, and the St. Petersburg Medical Tourism Agency.
Three dozen international experts from Russia, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, the USA, and other countries will discuss industry development and opportunities for Russia in the global medical and health tourism market. Over the two days of the summit, such important industry development topics as digitalisation in the era of COVID-19, support for medical tourism tour operators, marketing and branding of territories for medical tourists will be covered.
The first day of the summit will conclude with an award ceremony for market leaders – finalists of the Russian Medical Tourism Med Travel Leaders competition in six nominations. Applications for participation have been received from the regions of six federal districts.
The second day of the summit will be marked by work of four commissions on medical tourism: Commission on Information and Methodological Support, Commission on International Marketing, Commission on Science and Education, and Commission on International Service Standards. The leaders of the commissions will present the results of their teams' work on the most relevant issues of industry development.
The 2nd International Medical Tourism Workshop will be held by EXPOCENTRE AO and the Association of Medical Tourism and Export of Medical Services on 7–8 December for the participants in MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics. Health and Spa Resorts in order to promote the implementation of the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services. The event is organised specifically for the MedTravelExpo exhibitors involving leading foreign and Russian medical tourism agencies which are interested in sending patients for diagnostics, treatment and recovery to Russian medical institutions. The outcome of the presentations and meetings will be the signing of a cooperation agreement on the referral of medical tourists for treatment.
On 7 December from 15.30 to 17.30, SkyLight Hall of Congress Centre will host the 2nd Research Conference in Memory of Igor Lanskoy: Export of Medical Services: Problems and Prospects. It will be held within the Year of Science and Technology and will be a truly landmark event for the development of exports of medical services in Russia. The conference with the participation of leading industry experts and representatives of the executive authorities and scientific community is organised by the Coordinating Centre on Implementing the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO.
The 8th Russian Conference on the Current Problems of Modern Medical Organisation will take place on 7 December within Zdravookhraneniye 2921. The programme is designed specifically for private and public hospitals wishing to make their health care organisation relevant and comfortable for patients and staff in 2022.

The Strategy Session will cover trends in the development of modern medicine in the context of the pandemic. Our current experience shows that sustainable operation of health care authorities and resilience to challenges and crises is only possible on the basis of new knowledge and digital technologies. The total transition to big data analysis and digitalisation is helping doctors to develop and methodologically describe the most effective diagnostic and treatment schemes, prevention and rehabilitation, and to implement optimal principles of patient routing.
